I voted for my first presidential election
At the tender age of 24.
I know right, why after all this time?
I was taking care of someone at the time when I was the votes come in. I was so happy when I thought Hillary was going to win it all.
Then, most of us know what happened after that.
I moved to my hometown a few short months afterwards, wanting to make sure I had everything set up so that I could vote. I had a chance to during the off election cycles, and figured out how I shouldn’t vote for an absentee ballot since I had access to my own district for polling. I can recall taking about a 4o minute Uber driver all the way from the suburbs to my neighborhood in order to vote just less than half an hour before they were to close.
Now, times are different. For good reason. I took my mail in vote, dropped it off at my local library, and got a wristband that stated “I Voted” for my troubles. I have a feeling how my state is going to vote, even with several Illinois suburbs being what they are, but I hope this can sent out to someone who’s willing to listen.
Vote. If you have the day off on Tuesday, make a plan to get your vote in. Just vote.
