The Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer is a mess

I saw the trailer for this movie, and I really wished I hadn’t.

I will state this off the bat, My exposure to this is limited to the Sonic X series which was adapted as a 4kids dub in the mid 2000s and one game I played (which I never got the name off, only remembering a scene with a grassy rollocoaster) at a McDonalds where they had a gaming station along with the kids section.

Ever since, arguably, the Wizard of Oz in the 1920s, There seemed to be adaptations in abundance in the movie theaters. As of this article, Avengers: Endgame has grossed over 1 billion dollars in its’ first weekend, helped by previous movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe building up this epic movie ever since its inception, and I say this in the original term, in terms of scope and runtime. In fact, out of the top 10 movies grossing as of this article (adjusted for inflation), only one movie could truly be said to be based on an original screenplay, Avatar, as Titanic (#2 on the list) is centered based on the real life crashing of the Titanic.

Video game adaptations are something different. Unlike several adaptations that are derived from printed media, stage plays, and the like, video game already come with a premade world, character…
