I’m not a huge MTV watcher person, to get that out of the way. I don’t really follow much in the way of cable networks, unless there’s an important show I would like to see. In the few times I was able to watch the channel, there was something that caught my eye. Aside from the music video that it's known for.

The MTV Video Music Awards are certainly something, a spectacle for artists to showcases their music in style. I’ve only seen this thing twice.

First time in 2009, when I was younger, I had cable. And when one is bored and left at home after doing who knows what, one must channel surf to find something to entertain. I was entertained alright.

I watched the show live when I saw Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, the fallout afterwards, when Lady Gaga had a spectacular performance of Paparazzi, the tributes to Michael Jackson, who had passed on earlier that year. I was singing along with Taylor during “You belong with Me”, soon after what had happened.

The people from Twilight, Baby Justin Bieber, the songs from my ascent into early teenage-dom.

I had the impression that this award show was wild. Through the years of not having cable and relying more on the internet for my music, I never really saw much of the channel.
